Shopify, the Canadian ecommerce firm, has announced the upcoming launch of an artificial intelligence assistant called "Sidekick" for its platform. The assistant will be integrated as a button on Shopify and will provide answers to merchant queries, including information on sales trends. In a video shared on Twitter, CEO Tobi Lutke demonstrated the capabilities of Sidekick. Several other technology companies, such as Alibaba, Zoom, and Databricks, have recently introduced their own AI assistants following the increased popularity of OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT. Sidekick will also assist entrepreneurs in updating their Shopify stores, such as applying discounts to all items on the website. Although no specific release date was mentioned in the video, the feature is expected to be available soon.
